2003 Odyssey brake caliper bolts keep spinning. HELP!?

I just changed the front brake pads on a 2003 Honda Odyssey. The pads are in and car brakes just fine. My concern is the two bolts holding caliper in place. When tightening them, it just keeps spinning.. 3/4 of the caliper bolts do this. If I pull the bolt out, I can pull the bolt they go into out as well.. I don't see how it stays in place because they don't have threads on them once they go in. Please help! I just want the family to be safe. Thank you so much in advance.2003 Odyssey brake caliper bolts keep spinning. HELP!?Take it to a shop because the threads may be damaged and need to be retapped. It brakes fine cause they are currently staying in but could eventually work themselves out which is then dangerous

How do I change the Front discs on a Ford Laser KB 1984 Model?

I am not in any way shape or form mechanically minded however I have a friend who is willing to help me out changing the discs, we would just like to know the process of doing so as neither of us have ever attempted this before!

If anybody would be kind enough to give us a step by step guide, we would love you forever! We have tried googling but as we are newbies at this we aren't too sure what the names of the parts/various nuts are etc and it has gotten quite confusing!

I am having to replace them as my ex boyfriend replaced my brake pads around 3 months ago but one of them has now worn completely down for some reason, which in turn has worn down the disc. I am replacing both discs and pads just to be safe. Should this fix the problem or would this be caused by something else (caliper possibly??). Any advise would be VERY much appreciated! How do I change the Front discs on a Ford Laser KB 1984 Model? If brakes wore down in three months, you have a SERIOUS problem. No insult intended but two novices should not attempt this repair. The pads and rotors are actually very easy to change but the diagnostic for the seized/malfunctioning caliper should be done by someone with experience. How do I change the Front discs on a Ford Laser KB 1984 Model?First I would see if a shop manual is available online or from Ford and follow the procedure. Brakes are obviously an important component for safety and I would recommend you have a qualified shop look at the car.

"Shimmy" in Front right wheel?

Hi Gang, I have a 2005 Ford Taurus. There is a %26quot;shimmy%26quot; in the right front wheel. It only happens at a certain speed and the speed that it happens at changes depending on how far I have driven that day. The alignment is okay, the balance is okay, I have rotated the tires, and the brakes have been changed. Sadly, the front right tire and the front right brake go bad every 10,000 miles or so-so I have to keep changing them, but the tires and brakes on the rest of the car are fine. The car has never been wrecked. The mechanic that looked at it is stumped (although I don't think he's that great of a mechanic anyway.) Any suggestions?%26quot;Shimmy%26quot; in Front right wheel?I agree with %26quot;alekat%26quot; it sure sounds like the caliper is hanging up and causing pads to wear prematurely and also rotor warping which causes the %26quot;shimmy%26quot;, drive the car for 5min. or so and put your hand (touch) the center of the hub where the wheel bolts are if the right one is hotter it's your caliper, carefull not to burn your fingers, it can get very hot..%26quot;Shimmy%26quot; in Front right wheel?Hi, sorry this information wasn't included but the rotor and caliper have been changed. In addition, in response to other answers, the mechanic is certified, the tires have been balanced and rotated, one tire was completely worn through and had to be changed. Sadly, I had to change both front tires.

It's not hard to see if a front end suspension component has play in it.. look for play in the wheel bearings, outer and inner tie rods, ball joints, stabilizer links etc...%26quot;Shimmy%26quot; in Front right wheel?cv joint or wheel bearing maybe and brakes last about that long any ways and right side always wears faster that left side since roadways lean to right to drain water puts more pressure on right side of all cars way to check for shake put in drive but give no gas just let roll what you feel shake wil be bad wheel or tire now give gas what you feel wil be drive line like drive shaft cv joint as you speed up let off doe it stop shaking drive line problem .. if you reach a speed say above 45 does it come and go then its a tire balance problem%26quot;Shimmy%26quot; in Front right wheel?I have a suggestion, find a reputable shop that employs people capable of properly diagnosing the problem. Obviously, where you are taking your Taurus too is shell shocked here. The alignment is not okay even though he or she claims it to be, neither are the brakes. I'd have the alignment, inner and outer tie rods, control arm bushings etc checked. Did your so called %26quot;mechanic%26quot; give you a printout of before and after measurements for the alignment? If so what were the camber, caster and toe readings for the front and back? Need way more info.%26quot;Shimmy%26quot; in Front right wheel?get a new mechanic? better yet find a technician, make sure they are ASE certified.%26quot;Shimmy%26quot; in Front right wheel? Here are some things you can check.

check to see if the lug bolts are tight.

check if there are deformities in the tire.

check to see if there is a collection of mud inside the wheel, it could cause a tire to shimmy?

If none of these help? get help.

hope this helps?%26quot;Shimmy%26quot; in Front right wheel? You either have something worn out or something bent (like from hitting a curb). You need a new mechanic. This should be something obvious!%26quot;Shimmy%26quot; in Front right wheel?Have your rotors turned or replaced also check your caliper%26quot;Shimmy%26quot; in Front right wheel?Right front brake caliper piston, or slider, is hanging up and not releasing.

This can also cause the rotor to develop %26quot;hot spots%26quot; or warp from over heating - causing a wobble, when braking or not.

Do you notice a slight pull to the right on level roadway, (most roadway's slope slightly to the right for moisture drainage so it must be level)? If the tires are at correct pressure, alignment is correct, then suspect the caliper.%26quot;Shimmy%26quot; in Front right wheel?it could be a bad tire like the belt is broke, a bad ball joint or tie rod. it even could be a bad wheel bearing.

Parking Brake issue on a 2004 Ford Explorer?

I just changed the front brake pads on my moms 2004 Ford Explorer... no problems, tightened everything back up... pumped the brakes and whatnot. All good. i jacked up the rear driver side wheel, removed the wheel, took out the two mounting bolts on the back of the caliper but did not move the caliper because I couldn't figure out how. Anyway, i put the bolts back in and remounted the wheel. Again, all good. Or so i thought. I went to Ops check it through our development. When I started the car, i noticed that the ABS light was on. I let that go for the moment because the brakes were working but i was weary. I got out of the driveway and drove around, driving and stopping, driving and stopping... got back into the driveway, all good. Pulled up to the parking spot, put it in park and applied the parking brake. There was almost no resistance on the pedal. I was like, wtf? so, i pressed the pedal in, put my foot on the brake, put the car in neutral and even with the parking brake %26quot;engaged,%26quot; it drifted backwards, and it was working before. I'm clueless as to what's wrong. i went to pep boys and they told me i need to fix my front brakes. they told me i have about 30% left on my front brakes and i should change it today. so i was like okay how much does cost to fix it? and they go $450.... are you serious? i mean if i have 30% left on my brakes i dont even have to change rotors right? is it cost that much to just fix pads? where should i go to get the cheapest and reliable job done?Front brake on 03 hyundai tiburon?A lot of shops (WANT) to replace pads, rotors, calipers even if some are not in bad shape, their reason is if you replace all you will brakes like the day it was made. Does anyone know how to change the brake pads on a 2004 Explorer Sport Trac??

I'm going to attempt to change the brake pads on my 2004 Sport Trac. I have completed two brake jobs in the past, but had a friend with me who used to be a mechanic. Can anyone give me any pointers or assistance with how to go about changing the pads?? I'm also planning on changing pads on a 2003 Ford Taurus...is it the same way to change both? I know both have front disc brakes...please help.Does anyone know how to change the brake pads on a 2004 Explorer Sport Trac??Both vehicles are fairly straight forward. I would buy a Haynes type manual or go to the Ford dealer and see if they will photocopy the shop manuals. Be careful with the Sprt Trac beacuse if you turn the steering without the engine running(as we do with most front brake jobs) it will get an air pocket in the steering system that will have to be bled out or driven until it bleeds itself. If you drive the sport trac with the air pocket in the steering system it will appear fine until you get to the highway and go around a bend at which time it will shake so violently you will think a wheel has fallen off. Trust me it is not fun. I suggest going to a shop that has free brake inspection re check your work and I suggest to buy a good torque wrench and tighten the wheels to spec. Good luck.Does anyone know how to change the brake pads on a 2004 Explorer Sport Trac??Buy the maintenance book from an automotive store. Purchase the pads and the right tools, they are star headed bots that have to be removed. They are not allen keys anymore.

Several very old tools can do the job with one new star head bit on a rachet.Does anyone know how to change the brake pads on a 2004 Explorer Sport Trac??My local Ford dealer does a great job at that. Why try when for a few bucks you can have a pro do it, also if you screw it up, nada, if they screw it up, big buck payday awaits.

    Question about brake pads?

How difficult would it be for me to change my front brake pads and routers on my car?Question about brake pads? It's not difficult at all, but the C-clamp to push the cylinder back in on the caliper is a must.

Get online and check out you make and model. I would do it for you if I were there.Question about brake pads?If you know about working on car then it wont be very hard. You can find directions somewhere online. you will need some basic tools as well.Question about brake pads?Depends on the car and if you have the right tools. In addition to a socket wrench set, you'll need a C-clamp that is large enough to fit over the caliper so that you can push the piston back in. Some cars are pretty straight forward, others can be more difficult.

Personally, while I'm not a mechanic, I've replaced brake pads on 3 different makes of cars (some foreign, some domestic) without a hitch. It's something that everyone should know how to do.Question about brake pads?Changing pads and rotors is not difficult if you have the correct tools. If you are serious about doing your own work it is well worth the extra $20.00 to get a Chilton's, Haynes or Motor Age manual tailored to your car. They have step by step procedures with pictures. Personally, I prefer Chilton's because that's what I grew up with. Chilton's DIY has an online subscription service but I prefer to have a hard copy of the manual I can keep in the garage. I hate getting the keyboard greasy.

Auto-zone also has online directions, but I still like Chilton's.Question about brake pads?By yourself? The most difficult part, for me, is in getting enough of a lift on my car for me to comfortably work. Replacing the pads and rotors isn't that hard...it's not like rebuilding a carburetor or anything. Just make sure that you have a good instruction booklet (I recommend Chilton's...and you can buy it according to your make/model).Question about brake pads?If you have no knowledge of the workings of a car, don't try it yourself. Ask one of your guy friends to do it. It's not that hard but you have to have some understanding of the steps involved. The newer the car, the more difficult it can get. You want your brakes put on correctly.Question about brake pads?If you have never done it before it's difficult as you don't know what your doing, you need someone to show you one time how to do it and then the next time it will be easy, brakes are a very important part of the car so don't try to do the job yourself if you have no clue.

  • Brake pads still okay after 53,000 miles?

I just changed my front brake pads for the first time on my 2000 mazda protege with 53,000 miles on it. I was pleasantly suprised to see that the old pads were not completely worn out.

How long do front pads usually last?Brake pads still okay after 53,000 miles?Highway driving is the key, stop and go traffic is the fast way to go through brake pads and rotors. Heat is the number cause of brake pad wear, if they don't heat up they last twice as long. If you get 12k on a set of pads or rotors them your in the norm. Even if you don't feel or hear anything different in your brakes, keeping an eye on them with an inspection once and a while is a good idea.Brake pads still okay after 53,000 miles?Depends on quality of pads plus how you drive. Some only last 25,000 miles some 60,000 miles or more.Brake pads still okay after 53,000 miles? There is no real answer to that question. It depends on the composition of the brake pads. You could have the regular pads, or semi-metallic, or the new ceramic type, with the ceramic lasting the longest of course.

Then there is the factor of how aggressively the brakes are used. Someone with a light touch will obviously wear the pads down at a slower rate than the person doing panic stops.

You did an amazing job. Generally they recommend brakes be checked yearly, which would be around 12,000 miles.Brake pads still okay after 53,000 miles? Both Gary and okla have good answers, a another thing to consider is the type of area you live. I live in a fairly rural area and I'll get 50 to 75 K out a set of brakes. I've also worked on cabs near Chicago and the brake were only good for 5,000 miles, LOTS of stop and go.

    1) Proportioning valve, although you really don't see too many problems with these unless you are tinkering with them for racing and such.

    2) I had this happen to the rear wheel on my suburban, was the bearing that had worn a grove in the axle shaft, allowing axle grease to reach my brake drums, so when I hit my brakes, that tire would want to lock up.

    Good Luck.

I just got a car, what should i change besides the oil?

    nissan altima year 2000

the owner didnt tell me what he did.

i changed the oil, put in new coolant, installed new tires, changed the rotors, and front brakes. then i added some fuel injector cleaner in the gas tank

the car has like 183,000 km on it

i havent checked the rear brakes because i dont know how to put on rear brakesI just got a car, what should i change besides the oil?Timing belt even if it %26quot;looks%26quot; to be in great shape. Change it. Check out the car jack by actually lifting the car and use the wheel wrench to take off the nuts. Sometimes they lose these things and just toss in any old jack which does not necessarily fit or work(which does not help you when you actually need it to fix a flat tire) on the side of the road in the rain one night out in the middle of nowhere and you are half drunk and the girl is wanting it in the cab but you are no longer in the mood because %26quot;things are not going your way outside%26quot;.

All the filters. Check your vacuum lines and V belts and rad hoses. and your smelly pine tree air fumigator on the rearview mirror.

Oh, and check to see that the spare tire is actually one that fits onto the car. Nothing like finding you have a 4 bolt hole pattern to fit a Ford and you have a 4 bolt Chev.

Rear brakes are getting to the time they need to be inspected and possibly replaced as they would possibly be pretty thin by now. Do it before metal to metal contact which would ruin the drums. Grab a repair manual from the library to find out how to do them. It is not that hard.

Also have the battery condition inspected(a load test) and the charging system checked.

You might want to eye-ball the exhaust system especially around the muffler where most of the rust occurs to see if it is rusted through.

Also, eyeball the shocks to see if oil is leaking from them. Also you should have looked at the old tires and see how evenly they were wearing. If worn out on the insides or the outsides indicates a wheel alignment is needed as the car does not travel straight down the road. Wearing out in the centre means he had too much air in the tires.

Oh yeah. Do the windshield wipers work(and the washer)? Headlights, high beam %26amp; low beam, brake lights, backup lights, signal lights, horn?

Your engine uses a timing chain instead of a belt but verify this with a Nissan parts dept.

Read the owner's manual font to back and make note of maintenance intervals.

95 Dodge Ram 1500 4X4 Can I hav ur take on bleeding the brake system? And do u blead all or two?

I recently changed out my front brake pads and rotors. Now I need to bleed the brakes, do I blled all four, and the master? Someone told me just the front two!? Doesn't sound right to me, And how do u bleed the master, On my 95 Dodge Ram.95 Dodge Ram 1500 4X4 Can I hav ur take on bleeding the brake system? And do u blead all or two?The easiest way is to buy some speedy bleed bleeder screws and install in your calipers. this will allow you to do it with one person. Then you would want to remove fluid from master cyl until about 1/4 full, fill with new fluid and bleed wheel farthest from MC first working your way to the closest. usually RR, LR, RF, LF. It's a little more technical with two people, if you don't want to use speedy bleeders. Timing and finesse are usually required, and usually goes like this: Pump pedal to build pressure, hold medium pressure, open bleeder screw, as the person depressing the pedal gets close to the floor they shout and you close the bleeder screw. It's best not to depress the pedal all the way. 3/4 travel is best. keep doing it till you see clean new fluid or if the fluid already looks clean pump a pint through for each rear and a half pint for each front. be sure to keep the reservoir full or you can pump air in. then it turns into a headache. this will bleed the master cyl, lines and calipers, but not the abs system if equipped. The master cylinder only needs to be bench bleed when it has been removed from the vehicle or it is new. And as dodge man said the gravity bleed is good too, almost fool proof, but takes along time. You just open the bleeder screw and let it slowly drip, then close the bleeder. with gravity feed i have done two wheels at once. rears at the same time, and fronts at the same time. be sure to keep an eye on that fluid level. No matter what any one says, you should replace your fluid every time you do your brakes. If you do that, pads and fluid are the only things you will have to replace.95 Dodge Ram 1500 4X4 Can I hav ur take on bleeding the brake system? And do u blead all or two?when i do these i gravity bleed them, its slower but better method of doing this,i just open a bleeder up and start from the farthest wheel from the master cylinder,it is best to bleed all 4 wheels on them, this will also bleed out the master cylinder also on it,or you can have some one help you and pump bleed them, either way works on them, good luck with it.95 Dodge Ram 1500 4X4 Can I hav ur take on bleeding the brake system? And do u blead all or two?if ya did not open the system ya shouldn't have to,,but if yer going to do it start at the rear right bleeder, next the left rear, then the right front ,then the left front95 Dodge Ram 1500 4X4 Can I hav ur take on bleeding the brake system? And do u blead all or two?As long as you didn't touch the rears, they should be fine. I have gotten away with only bleeding one axle. However, it doesn't hurt to bleed all four to make sure there is no air in the line. Whenever I bleed brakes, I do a gravity bleed first, then manually bleed them. To do this: take the cover off your master cylinder, and open all your bleeder screws. Fluid will travel down the lines and force all the air out at the bleeders. Do not let the master cylinder go empty during this process. When no more ait comes out, close the bleeders. Have someone get in the driver's seat and push on the pedal while you open the bleeder screw at one wheel. Have them push the pedal, you open the bleeder, let fluid/air come out, close the bleeder, and have the assistant let off the pedal. Do this until no more air comes out of the bleeder. Repeat this process for each wheel, starting with the wheel farthest from the master cylinder:Right Rear, Left Rear, RIght Front, Left Front. If you do it right, you'll get all the air out of the system and you brakes will work fine. Hope this helps.

I bought a 2005 suzuki s40 bouelvard and I was wondering if I should change brake pads?

I dont really know much about brake or brake pads but if they need changed I would like to do it. The front brake squeaks a little when I hit the front and I dont know if thats supposed to happen or if the pads need changed. I dont know how to tell if the pads are worn or not and I dont know how to get the caliper off either. Any help would be appreciated.I bought a 2005 suzuki s40 bouelvard and I was wondering if I should change brake pads?Brake pads are manufactured with a groove in the middle of that material that serves as a wear indicator. If you look in the side of the caliper, you should see this groove. If it is not there, then the pads are worn and need to be replaced. Also, there is a metal tab attached to the end of the backing plate on the pad assembly. When the pads wear down, this tab will contact the rotor and make a sound much like fingernails across a chalkboard. if you hear this noise, then that should also tell you new brake pads are in order. And one more thing, when you do the pads, inspect the condition of the rotors. The surface that the pad contacts on the rotor should be smooth and shiny. If you see gouges, grooves, or roughness in the rotor, the rotor might have to be replaced also. You do not want to cut corners when servicing brakes. Bad brakes on a car makes it dangerous and even life threatening so make sure your brakes are as good as you can get em.

How to change the brake pads on a zx6r kawasaki 1999 (front and rear)?

is it a easy job to do?How to change the brake pads on a zx6r kawasaki 1999 (front and rear)? It takes about 15 minutes.

In the front (on each brake) there are 2 pad spring bolts. You remove them and the pad spring, then pull out the clip and remove the pad pin.

When you put the new pads in, you need to push the caliper pistons in by hand as far as you can, install the new pads and replace the pad pin, clip, pad spring and bolts. Make sure the clip is to the outside of the pad.

The back brakes you must remove the caliper by unscrewing the mounting bolts. Take the caliper off the disc, remove the clip and pad pin, then take out the old pads.

To install new pads, push the piston in and reverse the above procedure.

You should get a service manual as the illustrations are just as helpful as the text. You can probably find a used one on ebay or at http://www.alibris.com or http://www.biblio.com for cheap. How to change the brake pads on a zx6r kawasaki 1999 (front and rear)?it's easy....all u need is the service manual and the right tools. it'll walk u thru it step by step. is cheaper to get the manual than to pay for the shop time. How to change the brake pads on a zx6r kawasaki 1999 (front and rear)?Remove the 2 bolts holding each caliper on. Push in on the old pads to move the pistons all the way in. DO NOT PULL THE BRAKE LEVERS WHILE CALIPERS ARE OFF! Remove the 2 screws that hold the anti-vibe springs on top of the calipers. Pull the cotter pin on the pin that runs through the top of the pads. Pads should fall out. Install new pads and all components in reverse steps. Install calipers...do not touch rotors or pads with your fingers...oil from fingers causes squealing brakes. Pump levers to seat pads to rotors and check fluid levels. Good Luck! How to change the brake pads on a zx6r kawasaki 1999 (front and rear)?Yes it is an easy job if you have the skills and tool to do it

    BUT

As you have to ask how on here and this is your brakes we are talking about I doubt if you do possess the necessary skills and tools to do this and I mean no offence but safety is paramount.

Local bike shop would not charge a fortune to do this and you would be happy in the knowledge that it was done properly.

You need to put safety up there at the top and keep safe

    Good luck

    Clean and adjust rear brakes?

i took my car to get something fixed and they fixed the part that was broken... but they also gave me a list of recommendations. they said i need to get my rear brakes cleaned and adjusted. i have a 2007 toyota corolla. i don't really want to spend the 60 dollars they said it was going to cost to do it through them and was wondering if anyone would be able to explain how i can do it myself. i know how to change the brake pads on the front brakes. im just not sure what they mean by %26quot;adjust%26quot; the rear brakes. the cleaning part i know you just spray brake cleaner on there.. but how do i adjust my rear brakes?Clean and adjust rear brakes? It is a rip off scam. Your brakes are self adjusting. Very seldom would any brake systems on cars made in the last 35+ years need external adjustment.

All they would do is spray a can of brake cleaner spray onto the surfaces and let that dry. I would not waste your money on that.

Save the money and use it when it is time to replace the brake pads.

ADDED: If looking through the wheel you see a bright shiny surface like the front rotor then you have rear disk as well.Clean and adjust rear brakes?spend the extra 60 and in the future use the parking brake to adjust the rear brakes.they adjust when you apply the parking brake.Clean and adjust rear brakes? If they are rear drum brakes, cleaning them I recommend water, just spray them off. Now to adjust them, there should be a rubber plug on the backing plate. Remove this plug and there is a star wheel inside that is attached to an adjusting mechanism. One way tightens the brakes, the other way loosens them, of course you want to tighten them til you feel a slight drag when spinning the drum with your hand. Now, this was really easy to type but not so easy to do. 60 bucks is crazy for someone to adjust your rear brakes. I use to do it for free when I replaced the front brakes. I am sure you have a ton of questions now =)Clean and adjust rear brakes?Seems odd you'd have clean rear brakes especially if they are drum brakes unless the adjuster is not turning. Usually rear drum brakes adjust when you drive backwards %26amp; pump the brake pedal, but I'm not positive with a late model car. You might want to give this a try %26amp; see if you notice any difference before paying the 60$ If you can change the pads yourself I'm sure removing the adjuster %26amp; cleaning it up %26amp; puting anti-seize on the threads, shouldn't be a problem for you, or just check it to see if it turns freely. You may need a special tool depending on the location of the hole for the adjustment or pull the wheel %26amp; drum. Hope this helps.Clean and adjust rear brakes? How many miles do you have on the car??And are the rear brakes drums or disc?I work at a honda dealership, clean and adjust for disc there consists of lubricating the slide pins, cleaning off the shims the pads sit on, its mainly a preventative maintenance to ensure your braking system is well lubricated so you maintain even pad wear.As far as rear brakes go , they spray them down with brake clean to help clean them, their will be a adjusting star wheel, you just turn that with a screw driver and slap the drum back on, (not sure if theres an acess on the backing plate for your model car not all have them)

that's where the experience of a tech comes in to play, because you need to make sure you are getting good surface contact. But put the drum back on and hit it in the 12 and 6 o clock position and spin it if it still sits loose take the drum off and repeat it Again. But Again that's where experience from the tech to come in to play.Clean and adjust rear brakes?80% of your braking is done off the front pads you will usually go through 2 to 3 sets of pads before the rears need replacing i would not worry about cleaning are adjusting them wait till you need new shoes. You are in no danger and are not going to cause any harm to your rear shoes.Clean and adjust rear brakes? That model has rear drum brakes and also has self adjusters on them. If you will take the car to an empty parking lot somewhere and do the following. Make sure you have plenty of room behind you and no one nearby that could get in the way. Put the car in reverse and start backing up to about 15 mph and apply the brakes firmly and come to a stop. Do this about 6 to 8 times. Do not let the tires lock up or skid. Brakes are adjusted. Do this about 2 or 3 times a year to keep them adjusted. $60.00 saved.

  • How do I flush the brake fluid on a gsxr 750?

When I had my tires changed the guy said my brake fluid was dark (it is....) and needed to be changed front and rear. Can anyone explain how to do this? A page number in the service manual is fine.... cant seem to find it in there. How do I flush the brake fluid on a gsxr 750?1) Unscrew the reservoir cap.

    2) Sop up the existing old fluid with paper towels.

    3) Fill the reservoir to the fill line with new DOT 4 or higher brake fluid.

    4) Put a coffee can next to your front wheel.

    5) Connect a hose from the brake bleeder valve on your brake caliper assembly and put the other end in the can. A battery drain tube hose is the correct diameter or fish tank hose.

    6) Fill the can with brake fluid up to the hose end and an inch or two more. You need not fill the can all the way. You can use cheaper DOT 3 fluid in the can.

    7) Secure the hose so it does not pop out of the can or fluid.

    8) With a 10 mm wrench, loosen the bleeder valve about 1/2 turn or so.

    9) Squeeze the front brake all the way to the grip. Fluid should start going into the hose from the caliper assembly.

    10) While keeping one hand on the squeezed brake lever, tighten the bleeder valve with the other hand.

    11) Let up the brake lever.

    12) Repeat steps 8 through 11 until the reservoir gets low.

    13) Fill the reservoir again.

    14) Repeat steps 12 and 13.

    15) You are done.

    16) The rear brake is a similar process.

    17) Remove bleeder hose(s), discard fluid responsibly, and go ride! How do I flush the brake fluid on a gsxr 750?Your welcome.

How do I flush the brake fluid on a gsxr 750?The best thing to do is go out and buy a brake bleed kit. Otherwise its more of a two person job. You bleed the fluid from the caliper end, while topping up the fluid at the reservoir. You have to avoid air getting in the system, which is where the bleed kit helps. If you let the reservoir empty then air gets in and you have a longer job. Once the new fluid comes out of the caliper end the job is done. I doubt that it mentioned in your motorcycle handbook, but it should be in the workshop manual. How do I flush the brake fluid on a gsxr 750?This is a pretty general thing and it will work on any bike or car with disk brakes. It really is this easy! You can change the pads without loosening the fluid if you use a 'c' clamp. Some pictures might be useful! Loosen but do not remove the reservoir cover on the handlebars. On the brake caliper, find the bleed valve (on some calipers there are two), you can put a hose on it to run into a container or just hold the container underneath, but I suggest using a hose. You do not want to get brake fluid on your paint, it will eat through it instantly. Undo the bleed valve and pump the brakes until all the fluid is pumped out. When you pump it, it could squirt a long ways, so it is probably best to put a hose over the bleed valve, some cheap fuel line from Canadian tire will work, just throw it away when you are done. Replace the fluid with the DOT 3,4,5, be sure to use whatever came out of the bike. Do not mix brake fluid! Some you can, and some you can't, so it's better if you don't! Bleeding the brakes can get complicated, pour fluid in and pump the cylinder until you get it coming out the bottom bleed valve . Pump the reservoir a bit and then, with the bleed valves at the bottom closed, and while holding the pressure on the handlebar lever, crack the nut that attaches the brake line to the reservoir, just barely crack it and tighten it quickly. Usually they are very tight! Pump the reservoir with the handlebar lever a bit more and you will see some bubbles come into the reservoir. Bubbles and air in the line are your number one enemy! Then just bleed the brakes by pumping up the reservoir and while holding pressure, quickly opening and releasing the bleed valves on the caliper to release any air. This might take a while, I have spent two to three hours doing this. If you are lucky and sophisticated (or have had a lot of trouble doing this like me, and you do it a lot), you can buy a pump like I have (my roommate got it for me for my birthday, I think he was tired of seeing my pain!) It forces the brake fluid in through the bottom and up to the reservoir, no bubbles, first-time, every time! I hope this helps, Tim.How do I flush the brake fluid on a gsxr 750?Do one master cylinder at a time. Take of the lid. Make sure it is full of fluid. Open the bleeder screw on the caliper. Do not pump the brake. Be patient and allow gravity to pull the brake fluid out. Top off the master cylinder reservoir as necessary. When the fluid starts to look like the normal new color, you're done!

This is the most simple way. Also, you will be less likely to introduce air bubbles. How do I flush the brake fluid on a gsxr 750?Preacher is correct, once clean fluid is draining out then all the old is gone, just make sure you keep the reservoir topped otherwise you'll be pumping and bleeding.

    Brakes squeaking still....changed them yesterday?

So I changed the brakes yesterday (front disc) because they were squeaking so badly. Well they now have new pads on them and they are still making squeaking noises and it is driving me crazy.

Any ideas how to stop it?Brakes squeaking still....changed them yesterday? They make a lubricant for front brakes. Go to the auto parts store and get some. It is usually in a very small packet, like a mustard packet and cost a couple of $$. Apply to all the metal to metal contact points on the pads, caliper, etc. MAKE SURE you don't get it on where the pads contact the rotor. That should do the trick. While you have all the parts off make sure you have/do put them back on correctly.

If you still hear the noise after that, you may want to check your front wheel bearings.Brakes squeaking still....changed them yesterday?Did you rough up the rotors. They may be glazed, causing the squeaking.Brakes squeaking still....changed them yesterday?have to do it the right way/discs have to be machined and what about the rear brakesBrakes squeaking still....changed them yesterday?Did you use brake adhesive on the shims?Semi-Metalic pads on hot metal will vibrate at high frequency causing shrieking noises. Also check the wear indicators,it's easy to mis-install them. They are supposed to squeal at the end of the pads life. Before the rotors are damaged.Brakes squeaking still....changed them yesterday?Question is way too vague. What kind of vehicle is it, what was the Oe formula for the brake pads, did you replace with the same or just go with the cheapest pads, were the rotors measured and either resurfaced or replaced, was the hardware and caliper slides lubricated, were the wheels torqued properly to spec etc....

I need to tighten my drive shaft on my truck....?

My husband changed the front brakes on my truck last night. I drove it to the store today and relized it was shaking. I called him at work to find that he forgot to tighten the drive shaft. How do I do this???????I need to tighten my drive shaft on my truck....?Your husband would be best to do it because he knows what he left loose. http://www.enterprise.comI need to tighten my drive shaft on my truck....?Why did he loosen the drive shaft to do a brake job???I need to tighten my drive shaft on my truck....?chevy? front or rear drive shaft? If it's 4 wheel drive, the bolts are 7/16 th's size and there are 4 of them. simply crawl under the truck and examine both ends of either shaft( the long or short round tubes) for loose bolts, tighten them down tightly as possible with a wrench before driving again.I need to tighten my drive shaft on my truck....?If he changed your brakes, I do not think that would have anything to do with your drive shaft. But check the bolts that connect to the rear axle if you think that's it. What other problem could be is there is a warped rotor in the front break or he did not put the tire on straight and did not realize it, which is easy to do. Do not drive it until you find out, cause you could lose a tire!I need to tighten my drive shaft on my truck....?Seems to be a break-down of communication on your brake job. What's your husband calling the drive shaft ? It has No connection with a brake job. I wouldn't drive it till you have a knowledgeable wrench look at what's been done. Not to say your hubby doesn't but I'de wonder ?I need to tighten my drive shaft on my truck....?changing the brakes would have nothing to do with the driveshaft, you better park the vehicle until he gets home and apparently he knows what he didn't do right or tighten but the driveshaft isn't the problem unless he had it out for other reasons.

  • How do you change the brakes on a 330 BMW xi ?

I own a 330 BMW xi. It is a four door car and it was made in 2003. Anyway, my car is a certified pre-owned car, so I took it to a dealership for a couple problems to be fixed. Anyway, the dealership told me that it would cost approximately $1,500.00 to fix both the front and back brakes on my car... I was super upset about this so I wouldn't allow them to touch my brakes. I figured that I would just do it myself so I could save some money. What would you guys do? Do any of you know how to replace the brakes on a BMW? Where do you purchase brakes at? How should I replace them? Also, are there certain brakes that I should purchase for this car? Take care everybody. How do you change the brakes on a 330 BMW xi ?You can purchase brake pads (front %26amp; rear sets), brake rotors (4), brake sensors (2) from Bavarian Motorsport. They may not be the cheapest, but they are very reliable, and much cheaper than dealers.

Replacing BMW brakes are just as easy as replacing brakes on other cars, the only difference is the rotors are held in place by a hex screw.

The Bavarian Motorsport website has newsletters (in PDF) on how to do specific maintenance on your car, including brakes. Go check it out!How do you change the brakes on a 330 BMW xi ?Lets see here (tools extra)

NEVER go cheap and not turn the rotors (SQUEEEEEK) never have them resurfaced unless you broke as a joke. There is also a safety issue since BMW rotors are made out of very soft metal and they get thinner faster than most other cars.

Ok that's the basics. After a brake job you usually and should bleed the brake lines and that car requires more than just using your friends foot.http://forum.e46fanatics.com/showthread. Some more involved but that's the basics. If you do all that you should have a good brake job done without a squishy petal and a ABS light on or low pad warning. Take your time sit and think out anything you have trouble with it should all come to you. Brakes are still relatively easy to do.How do you change the brakes on a 330 BMW xi ?If you need to be asking this question, then pay someone who knows how to do the job safely and correctly. Trying to do brakes with a wrench in one hand and a book in the other is a recipe for disaster. There are thousands of dollars worth of A.B.S. components that you can damage by pushing contaminater fluid through and hundreds of thousands of dollars of legal ramifications if you screw up. Bite the bullet and get your wallet out!

This is normally done thru statements relating to speed, time, distance. You can't just say the guy made a lane change and then stopped, you have to be specific. The guy 's rear bumper was 2 inches from my front bumper when he made a lane change. He traveled 5 ft then slammed on his brakes. When he slammed on his brakes I was 5 ft behind them. 2 seconds passed from the time he made the lane change until he slammed on the brakes. Understand? It can be your fault if the sequence of events is inconsistent with an abupt, instanteous stop. Although this is a scam pulled daily, the rear car pays....primarily because short of a video tape of the vent, their is no way to prove fraud was committed.

How do you change rear drum brakes to disk on a Nissan Sentra?

I have a 1992 Nissan Sentra XE (four door), and I want to change the stock drum brakes on the rear to disk brakes. I would also like to change the rotors in the front to bigger ones. What all do I need to do? I don't need an exact answer for my car, just the basic steps for converting drum brakes to disk.

Right now its FWD, so it doesn't even have power going back there, but I still want disk brakes. I am planning on doing an engine swap, and making it RWD, but that's a whole other animal. How do you change rear drum brakes to disk on a Nissan Sentra?Your money would be best spent on a car less than 18 years old. That said everything is different from the master Cly to the rear parking brake cables and hydraulic hoses and tubing.. It could get costly quickly. I know only anti lock brake sentra had disks rear the 1994 year model. You could get used parts out of a autorecyclers yard. They don't like being called junk yards. I have never seen a rear wheel drive sentra conversion. If you want a 350Z get one it would be cheaper and performance parts will be available. Good LuckHow do you change rear drum brakes to disk on a Nissan Sentra?I have to totally agree with John Paul...These are some ambitious and potentially expensive mods for that old car. How do I change the rear brakes on my Vespa LX150?

Whenever I use the rear brakes, they pump, rather than slow me to a stop. When I use the front brakes, it is just fine, but I don't like relying on them. It's like they're only working on one part of the drum. I don't even know if any of this makes sense. I've tried googling, and checking youtube, but I just can't find anything. Nor do I even know if the reason for this happening is because the brakes need to be changed. Please help!!How do I change the rear brakes on my Vespa LX150?Here is the entire service manual for that scooter:

    2000 Ford Explorer xls?

    Hello

My truck just started making a grinding noise while braking. I would like to know how to change the front brakes and what parts are needed to complete the job including tools. I would also like to know about how long all this will take because if its too long I will probably take it to the repair shop.Diagrams would be helpfull as well.

Thanks for all your answers!2000 Ford Explorer xls?You need to unbolt the caliper, machine the rotors if they are within specs, and lubricate the hardware and caliper slides. That question is like asking: I have a friend that needs a heart transplant, I dont want to pay because the doctor is a rip off, so i want to do it myself and save money, but can you tell me what is needed and what i need to do to make it succeed.2000 Ford Explorer xls?Bring it to a cheap independent mechanic. Replacing the brake pads without having the rotors turned is useless you will just wear out a set of pads.

Google a diagram if you want to do it yourself, but a brake job isn't really something to try for the first time.

That's a life and death mistake you can make.

Brake pads are cheap, turning rotors are cheap. Your looking at less than a $100 job!2000 Ford Explorer xls?If you are at a point that it is 'grinding', then you have let it go way too far.

Changing the pads relatively easy, but I am willing to bet that the rotors will need to be resurfaced at best, or replaced if it has been grinding long.

Remove the calipers, pull the rotors, take them to a machine shop, they will measure them to see if they can be resurfaced and remain within specs, replace the pads and you are on your way.

Better yet, take it to a mechanic that you trust, and let him do it, I am betting that he will do it faster, and without any mistakes...:)

Why have both front brakes seized up on my 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee???

The brake pads were changed about 1 month ago, but until yesterday, the truck was driving fine. Now all at once, both front brakes have seized up and I'm trying to figure out why. It doesn't make sense that both calipers would fail at EXACTLY the same time. My father suggested that the master cylinder is bad, but I don't want to jump to conclusions...

Has anyone ever had this problem before? What should I check first? And if all else fails, how can I be positive that the master cylinder is bad?

The metal brake lines were recently changed and flushed by the dealer, and there is plenty of fluid in the master cylinder. Any and all opinions are very much appreciated!

    Thank you in advance.

Why have both front brakes seized up on my 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee???its possible its the master. open the hood, leave the lines on the master cylinder and take the two nuts off and slide the master cylinder toward the front of the car an inch, see if the front wheels free up, then bolt it back up to the booster and crack the two lines. brakes are a safety issue that should be repaired by professionalsWhy have both front brakes seized up on my 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee???ABS sensor?

The front brakes on my car are squeaking. Do the brake pads need replacing?

I bought a suzuki swift from a careful lady driver in september 2006. It was/still is in good condition. I recently had the tyres changed on the vehicle and when i was in the garage, an engineer pointed out that the front disc pads were looking worn down, he even suggested to have them replaced. I didn't have them replaced because my car was booked in the next day for a service. When the car went in for a service i mentioned to the people at the service desk to check the brakes as the pads were wearing down and have recenlty been squeaking. I just call the garage to enquire about how the service went and they said everything is fine. They said that the front break pads were ok. I am some what surprised and thought that they were going to be replaced. Any comments welcome!!The front brakes on my car are squeaking. Do the brake pads need replacing?if the garage carried out a service on your car then checking the brake pads comes as standard on a service in my experience from working on cars some times the pads just need abit of cooper grease on them where they make contact with the calliper if you had your tyres fitted at a quick fit or one of them places then they are none for telling people that they needed new brake pads or shock absorbers that's how they make there money scum bags but I'm sure if the garage carryed out the service right they would of told you the brake pads needed changing its in there interest or if they was low they would normally tell you they need changing in a couple of thousand miles or so or in the next service which ever was closest hope this helps take care and remember that brakes are important so if worth getting a second look by someone else if they say they need doing get in touch with the garage that carryed out the service and ask why it wasn't picked up be careful out thereThe front brakes on my car are squeaking. Do the brake pads need replacing?the squeaking on the brakes is a sure sign of wear..get them replaced...the next thing is if you don't replace them the metal will be rubbing on the plates or drum.causing more expense later..ask the garage why they didn't change them and next time take the car to a garage that is prepared to listen to you..The front brakes on my car are squeaking. Do the brake pads need replacing?on the calipers, there are two metal brackets that hold the pad itself, that is probably what is squeaking, they sell the lubricant at auto zone for 1.00 and is fairly easy to put on. about 5 minThe front brakes on my car are squeaking. Do the brake pads need replacing? Some break pads squeek. Usually the cheaper ones.Remember you have pads on the back as well that can squeek. I would ge a second opinion though. The front brakes on my car are squeaking. Do the brake pads need replacing?Yes you definitely need to replace your brake pads. Because you didn't do it before you may even have to replace your rotors. Please have them checked out too. ASAP!!!!!The front brakes on my car are squeaking. Do the brake pads need replacing?Sounds like there its dust on the brake lining. If they said the brake were fine then don't worry. It seems to me that maybe the original engineer may have wanted to make some money from you.The front brakes on my car are squeaking. Do the brake pads need replacing?after mark break pads do squeek but should go away after a week or two also theres a warning bolt in most break pads to let you know when your pads need to be replaced take off the front tire and see how much pad is left and that will tell the whole storieThe front brakes on my car are squeaking. Do the brake pads need replacing? The squeak from disk brakes are usually caused by a dry metal plate which is placed behind the pad to stop stones and grit. Ask the garage (if they haven't done this) if they would put some copper grease between the plate and pad for you. It takes seconds with the wheels off so it should not cost more than a few pounds. The front brakes on my car are squeaking. Do the brake pads need replacing?it might not be the brakes that are sqeeking it could be the suspenions or bearings that could b doing it when u brakeThe front brakes on my car are squeaking. Do the brake pads need replacing? If your brakes are making noise, they probably do need to be replaced. Under the actual pad material on them is what are called squealers. They look like rivets. They make noise to let you know your pads are worn out. If they wear down to bad they could start eating away at your rotor. And that can be expensive. I would have your pads changed.

How do you take off the front of a bmx?

I have a problem with my handle bars as they move to much and i can not tighten them any more as this will brake the bolts. So i am going to change the front steam. But how do you take off the whole of the steam including the front forks. Any help would be appreticated.

ThanksHow do you take off the front of a bmx?sounds like your head set is loose. Your forks sit on 2 cups top and bottom with bearings in them. there is a large nut that sits on top of it. if you can turn it by hand its to loose. tighten it up a little. you should not have to replace the stem and you should notice your handle bars will not move any more. Allways keep an eye on this as it will damage the head tube on the bicycle.

How do i remove rear brake drum?

Im a novice at mechanics.I can do small repairs like front brakes, alternator change, water pumps, things like that.I have never changed rear brakes. How do I remove the hub on the rear?is it suppose to just pull off or what.If so it must be really stuck.please help if you can.Its a 95 buick skylark! How do i remove rear brake drum?some brake drums will come off easily by just wiggling it and some of them you have to loosen the adjuster or tapping it with a hammer at the sides.good luckHow do i remove rear brake drum?porkchop its pretty easy on that car model. make sure you dont have the emergency brake pulled 1st, there is a possability you might need to back the brake pads off iff they are too deep in the drum likely not. using a block of wood and a hammer wrap the side of the drum in aprx 3 spots. the wood is to shield the impact to the drum. the drum will likely pop free and be easily slid off. a shot of wd40 around the round center will help a lot. be carefull and wear a dust mask when you do this as brake dust will fly around.

How to decompress my caliper piston?

i have a 203 svt cobra, i changed the front brakes already with no problem, i used a C clamp to decompress the pistons and everything was fine, so then i moved to the passenger rear barkes and i took it all apart and now im trying to decompress the piston but its not even budging or moving even a little bit, im still using the C clamp, please help i need to fix it cause i need to drive it.!!! please help thank you!!!!!How to decompress my caliper piston?Use the proper tool, open the bleeder and the proper tool and turn them back. How to decompress my caliper piston?try a bigger c clamp and if that does not work you will have to get a new caliper because the one you have is frozenHow to decompress my caliper piston?By design, the rear pistons need to turn while compressing. What you want to do is slide a small screw driver between the C clamp and piston, turn the piston while compressing. Also spray the piston with some Wd40 to make turning easier.

I start to see these rear calipers (that requires pistons be turned while compressing) in mid 90s and it seems like all cars now use this method. Not sure as what would be the design advantage. It may have something to do with sharing the caliper with the parking brake. How to decompress my caliper piston?Pump the brakes with it off if it wont move get a new one

HOW DO I CLEAN THE BRAKE CALIPERS IN THE FRONT OF MY CAR?

I BARELY GOT THE BRAKES CHANGED IN THE FRONT OF THE CAR AND THEY ARE ALREADY MAKING A HIGH PITCHED NOISE, SO I GOT THEM CHECKED AGAIN. THE PAD ON THE INSIDE STILL HAS PADDING LEFT BUT THEN ON THE OUTSIDE THEY ARE WORN DOWN TO NOTHING. THE CALIPERS ARE NOT MOVING SIDE TO SIDE EVENLY AND ITS WEARING DOWN ONE SIDE DOWN MORE THAN THE OTHER. SO HOW DO I CLEAN THE CALIPERS SO THAT I KNOW THAT IM DOING THIS THE RIGHT WAY. EXACTLY RIGHT! SO THAT I GET MORE USE BEFORE I SPEND MONEY I DONT HAVE TO GET NEW ONESHOW DO I CLEAN THE BRAKE CALIPERS IN THE FRONT OF MY CAR?You don't mention the type of caliper you're dealing with (fixed or floating). If they're floaters, remove them and clean the pins they slide on, and apply a little grease when you reassemble them. If they're the fixed type, you're looking at a rebuild or replacement. If the car is more than 2 yrs. old change the fluid too. Good luck.HOW DO I CLEAN THE BRAKE CALIPERS IN THE FRONT OF MY CAR?The problem is that your caliper sliders are not greased, on the caliper their is a slider that you take off, clean and re-grease. When the sliders seize (due to lake of grease), the two sides of the caliper do not close simultaneously and only the inside brake pad wears. If your able to take off the slider, clean them and grease them, if not you have to replace the whole unit.HOW DO I CLEAN THE BRAKE CALIPERS IN THE FRONT OF MY CAR?Replace both calipers before installing new brake linings. The pistons that go in and out when you apply your brakes cannot be %26quot;cleaned%26quot; but have to be honed out and rebuilt if possible. They may have too much rust built up to even be rebuilt. Make sure all slides are are cleaned and lubed before installing new calipers. Hope this helps

How to change brakes on a gmc yukon?

2004 front and rear, what skill level? thanks in advanceHow to change brakes on a gmc yukon? You will need to remove the wheels. Need a 'C' clamp (A 10-12%26quot; size will be large enough). Need some allen wrenches (3/8%26quot; socket drive will make life easier, but regular allen wrench will work).

On the front, remove the wheel. Then on the back side of the brake caliper there are two bolts that mount the caliper to the mounting bracket. Remove those two bolts to remove the caliper. Then remove the outer brake pad by prying loose with a screwdriver or similar (it is held in place with spring clips). Then use the inner pad and c-clamp to compress the caliper piston (if your tough you can squeeze it by hand... just use the clamp). Then remove the inner brake pad. Install the new pads in the same manner as the old ones came off, then place the caliper in position. Lube the slider bolts with grease before you install them (the allen head bolts that hold the caliper in place). Then torque them back down.

Repeat sequence for all four corners. If I remember correctly, you have disc all the way around.

Keep in mind that when you press the piston back into the caliper that the brake fluid level in your master cylinder will rise, and may overflow if somebody has been topping it off.

Never allow the caliper to hang by the brake line. ALWAYS tie it up with something (tie wire, a friend, ect), don't let it hang by the rubber hose.

How to know if my ABS or Brake Booster is bad?

I have 1998 Chevy Tahoe 4WD. I have changed my callipers, front brake lines, master cylinder, new brake shoes. When I am driving for about 15min .My brake pedal gets so hard that I cant press it and my vehicle gets stuck and won't move at all. I have to wait until the brakes cool down for about and hour and then I am able to move the vehicle again. And it just repeat itself. How to know if my ABS or Brake Booster is bad?Wow thats not good, before I read all of the question I was thinking it was your Booster because it is supposed to make pushing the brake easier by using vacuum pressure. But as I read on you mentioned it stuck, Thats not good at all bud. Sounds to me like your pads may be on loose or something of that sort wasn't hooked up right. I'm not an expert but you better get that looked at as soon as you can before something bad happens. How to know if my ABS or Brake Booster is bad? That is a strange one. I know GM has a brake sensor system that your lines run through. A box under the hood near the master cylinder.

I've heard of that going bad. I'm not sure if it would cause your problem. Try bleeding the brakes at the master cylinder to see if that helps. You may have air in the line. Normaly you wouldn't think air would cause them to stop the vehicle.

I had that happen on a Honda and it was a vaccum problem. Some sort of vaccum box was the problem. How to know if my ABS or Brake Booster is bad?I don't think it's ABS. The only things you haven't replaced is the vacuum booster and proportioning valve. If you can get them to lock, jack up the car and check to see which whells won't turn (make sure parking brake is disengaged and trans is in neutral to check the rear). This should tell you which wheel(s) are locking and may aid in troubleshooting.

How do you bleed the brakes in a 1977 Motorhome / RV?

I have a 1977 GMC MIDAS motor-home, and I am having a hard time with the brakes. It has 4 disc brakes. I changed the front pads, and calipers on both sides. I tried bleeding the lines but the pedal is still really soft. I have to push the pedal all the way down until I feel brakes, and that's with new pads and calipers. The rotors do not looked warped. I read something about turning the wheel to both locks to engage the pump or something? I tried everything, I think it may have a brake power boost system. I did add brake fluid to the master cylinder because it went down after the bleeding process, which I hope was what I was supposed to add. Anyone have any ideas, or somewhere that the proper bleeding process is described for this vehicle? How do you bleed the brakes in a 1977 Motorhome / RV?it still has air in the system

get a friend help you out

have him pump the break five times or more and tell him not to release and let his food press down on the break.

loosen the bleed valve on the caliper a quarter turn and tighten it once the fluids come out

repeat the process like three times or until no more bubbles come out of the bleed valve. do it in all four wheels,,

,*****watch out for the fluid level on the reservoir if it runs out while your still bleeding the system you're gonna have to start all over again*****

  • How to make your brakes stop squeeling?

I have already changed my brakes and they still squeel. It is my front brakes on a dodge durango 2002How to make your brakes stop squeeling?well go to the auto place that fixes cars or somethin easier would be to get a new carHow to make your brakes stop squeeling?Rudy has it pretty good. If you put ceramic pads on rotors not designed for such you are going to have squeal. They could be dragging and creating a lot of brake dust which will cause this.

If you put the brake pads on yourself did you lube the slide bolts that the calipers ride on? Try some brake cleaner and wash them very well with this. Let them dry COMPLETELY, and then see if they still squeal. If not then dust is your problem, if so, then you need to look into some new rotors(cheaper than surfacing these days).

Myself I would tell them if they are not quiet, your pulling the car over:)How to make your brakes stop squeeling?if you live in a really wet or damp area that can cause it. if not then it is more than likely your performance parts or even try taking it to a different place to get the work doneHow to make your brakes stop squeeling?it's probably normal- - just brake dust...How to make your brakes stop squeeling?Instead of opt-ing for the cheaper pads spend a little more and get a ceramic set. They did not do a good job.How to make your brakes stop squeeling?Tell them if they're quiet, you'll give them candy later. Assuming you have quality pads and rotors which have been surfaced correctly, there is a special lubricant that can be applied to the back of the disc brake pads. It's a very special product, so don't just start slapping anything on there. It's a special purpose product. I my self would only have a brake professional do the job. Junk pads and poorly surfaced rotors can contribute to squeal. Some brake squeal is unavoidable on some models, but the lube will help. How to make your brakes stop squeeling? Some times dirt from the road gets between the caliper and the brake pads, or the rotors may have to be cut or changed. Also can be the wrong pads your using.

I think i need a brake change please help.?

Just recently my car brakes started to squeak. Ive had those brakes for about a year and six months. I dont know if the brakes have dust in them, i dont know. It only squeaks when i slightly press the brake, when i press it all the way its all good. If i do need this brake change how difficult is it to do it your self, i have never changed brakes my self, but i did rebuild a top end of a AMC and made it run again. I have front disk brakes and drums in the back. what kind of brake pads should i get, cause iam getting them from auto zone, and the prices very bettween diffrent brands, $35 is the most ill pay for a pair of brake pads. so which ones should i get, what do i need to keep in mind. thank you for all your helpI think i need a brake change please help.?OK it sounds like it's about time, dust is a factor but after 20 months it's time. %26quot;Bendix or Raybestes%26quot; are your best bet and you may get another 16 to 20 months. With the rotors and drums if you run a finger nail across the surface and it gets caught or really feels rough they need to be turned, turning the drums and rotors will make the brake shoes and pads last longer. Yes get the %26quot;Auto Repair Manual%26quot; for your car to help you with the job the first time or 2. Good Luck and take it slow the first time or 2.I think i need a brake change please help.?mate. there's usually inspection slots in the caliber so go look at the pad thickness.I think i need a brake change please help.?get Bendix brand,, the best is the only way to go with your brakes. I get mine from Advance Auto.I think i need a brake change please help.?You get what you pay for, get the cheap ones and they blow out black dust and squeal like a retarded pig..... get the better pads, ceramic are the best. They are easy to change, you will need to buy a C-clamp to push the piston back in the caliper for the disc brakes.I think i need a brake change please help.?You do not know what the problem is and do not know how to do it. Yet you want to fix it your self for $35. I am glad I do not live in Long Beach.

Hey: We mechanic need to make a living too.I think i need a brake change please help.?Well for starters you get what you pay for. Pads will range anywhere from 6.00 to 60.00. They have the regular elcheapo and then they have extreme duty. You asked a question that leaves a lot of questions open. You need to go somewhere and get a free brake check. There are a number of things that could be making the pads squeak besides actually needing to replace them. You mentioned dust that is one thing. Stuck caliper will give that effect also. Dry slides. Broken anti squeaker. I have even had a bad hose cause that effect. How old is the car.I think i need a brake change please help.?Yeah, you can do it ,but you might want to buy a Haynes repair manual for your car. It will tell you what, if any ,special tools you will need.

Get the middle priced set of pads and be sure to apply the anti squeal paste or the plastic shims that come with them.

DON'T use a bumper jack or the jack that came with your car unless you place it on stands . Be safe, don't get under ANY car if it's not on stands.I think i need a brake change please help.?It depends, how hard are you on your breaks? If you ease into everything, they may just be glazed over. If this is the problem, a spin on a grinding wheel should do the trick. As for difficulty, disc breaks are easier to change and drums are a little more complicated.I think i need a brake change please help.?get semi -metallic pads and shoes about 20.00 ea set The sound you hear by that description is that of the early warning device on the pads to tell you that the pads are ready to be changed-- its a piece of metal that makes a noise because it touches the rotor first when the pads are worn. as for the work it is fair but the trick is that you need some specialty tools ie brake spring pliers, brake spoon, hex or torques wrench/socket 6%26quot; c-clamp and you have to run the rotors and drums down some where to get them cut in the back take both drums off but only change one set of shoes at a time so you can look at the other side if you get lost If you have abs most of them dont like having the fluid pushed back into the master cylinder so you have to clamp the line open the bleeder screw to push the caliper back if you do it yourself get a book hope this helps

Suggestion, bfh!How to change drum brakes on 99 Kia Sephia?I have noticed this on a few Asian vehicles with drum brakes. You will see 2 threaded holes on the drum where you need to insert 2 8mm bolts ( M8 X 1.25 I believe). Slowly turn each bolt a little at a time and it will easily pull the drum off. I hope this helps. How to change drum brakes on 99 Kia Sephia?I don't know if this applies to a 99 Kia, but you may have to adjust the brake shoes away from the drum. There should be a slot either at the edge of the drum or on the backing plate (or support plate, whetever you call it). You will however need some specialized tools or a couple of screwdrivers.

How to convert 4 lugs to 5lugs on honda civic ex 05 coupe?

I have a honda civic 05ex coupe and I want to convert 4 lugs pattern to 5 lugs pattern. I don't know what parts should i get to do it, and I also want to change the front rotor brakes and rear brake ( my rear brakes are drum and I want to convert it into brake rotor). Can you guys help me out with this?

thankzHow to convert 4 lugs to 5lugs on honda civic ex 05 coupe?#1 get a wheelbarrow full of money! #2 If you are lucky you might find a Honda with 5 lug wheels, - you then might be able to pull hubs off and change out with stock parts! Or you might be able to buy adapters at auto parts store (or custom wheel shop)! This will cost you plenty! For non drive wheels you can change hubs, -- but you need to find one at junkyard (preferably) that has disc brakes on back and buy all the stuff needed to remove drum brakes and backing plates and install lines that go with disc brakes! Then you have problem of parking brake, which has to have all the conversion stuff to to work!

When you get finished with that, all you have to do is get master cylinder for disc brakes, (for all 4 wheels), change anti skid brake parts (if so equipped) and possibly %26quot;shuttle valve that shuts off fluid flow should one %26quot;end %26quot; of car have brake leak, and then I guess you are ready to go!

Possibly you can buy conversion kit for disc brakes at a%26quot;speed shop/custom car supply%26quot; place for somewhere around $900-1000! They also might have adapters to bolt on. but this will make your wheels sit out about 1 1/2%26quot; probably - so you might need %26quot;deep dish%26quot; wheels to go that way!

To me it would be unwarranted expense, as only about 1/3 of braking goes to rear wheels! And if you are going to %26quot;play competition%26quot; you will probably tear car up and ruin it in short order anyway!

But then what do I know!! I have only been fixing cars since I was 9,---which is almost 60 years ago!How to convert 4 lugs to 5lugs on honda civic ex 05 coupe? The lugs are part of the %26quot;brake-rotor%26quot;How to convert 4 lugs to 5lugs on honda civic ex 05 coupe? The lugs are mounted in the hub assembly of each wheel, the key is finding 5 lug hubs which have the same size bearing mounting shaft as the 4 lug hubs which you have. once you locate a set of the proper hubs you will have to obtain rotors to match, Brake caliper mounts to match the rotors (front and rear) which may require replacement of the knuckles in the front and will certainly require modifications to the rear spindle supports to mount the rear calipers. This is not going to be a simple swap a few pieces operation - your best bet will be to find a disk brake equipped rear %26quot;axle%26quot; assembly from a similar car so you have all the pieces in one assembly then find a really good welder who you can persuade ($$$) to perform non dot approved modifications to your machine. If you are reasonable lucky on the parts locating side of this you might get it accomplished for less than 2 or 3 thousand dollars. How to convert 4 lugs to 5lugs on honda civic ex 05 coupe?WHY would you want to do this? It would be very expensive for no benefit whatsoever.
