I start to see these rear calipers (that requires pistons be turned while compressing) in mid 90s and it seems like all cars now use this method. Not sure as what would be the design advantage. Just get the proper tool and turn them in. They move out little by little and rotate themselves as they come out. And NEVER pump brakes with caliper off the rotor.
