Changing bike brakes?

i have a old GT talera mountain bike, it has V-brakes, and the brake pieces are cracked in both front and back, it's really/near impossible hard to unscrew them as they are old(only got one off), how do i get the screws and bolts out so i can change brakes?Changing bike brakes?Never use Liquid Wrench on anything cycling or automotive related. Use Kroil. It is a special penetrant used largely by the classic car community.

Brakes squeak because of old pads or improper toe-in of the pads. If the rear of the pads hit the rim before the front a high frequency vibration is set up which is what you call a squeak. Changing bike brakes?Let them soak in Liquid Wrench for a while. Disconnect the brake cable and remove the wheel. Put a pair of channel locks on the pad and try to turn it while holding the screw.
