Could anyone tell me how to change the front wheel bearings on my 1990 ford escort diesel van?

I got RAC'd home today and have asked a few people (friends) but everyone just says ooh you need special tools..... What tools and what do i do? I have the wheel off and know i've gotta remove the hub nut and brake caliper, but what then???Could anyone tell me how to change the front wheel bearings on my 1990 ford escort diesel van? After you get the nut and the caliper off, the rotor should slide off. Then, and I'm just guessing, since I haven't worked on an Escort diesel van, then the hub and bearing assembly should unbolt from the front spindle. There should be three or four bolts in each hub. That's how all the FWD cars I've seen have been.Could anyone tell me how to change the front wheel bearings on my 1990 ford escort diesel van?Take the hub off

Buy a wheelbearing kit

go to a privately owned garage and ask them nicely if they can fit the bearing for you.

Refit components.

The problem is that the bearings have to be pressed in using a powerful pressing/pulling machine. Dnt try with a hammer its impossible. My local garage charged me 25 but that was about 4 yrs ago.

Hope this helps!
