How do you take off the front of a bmx?

I have a problem with my handle bars as they move to much and i can not tighten them any more as this will brake the bolts. So i am going to change the front steam. But how do you take off the whole of the steam including the front forks. Any help would be appreticated.

Your forks sit on 2 cups top and bottom with bearings in them. there is a large nut that sits on top of it. if you can turn it by hand its to loose. tighten it up a little. you should not have to replace the stem and you should notice your handle bars will not move any more. Allways keep an eye on this as it will damage the head tube on the bicycle.
