How do you change a front brake disc on a motor bike?

I have a bent front disc brake and need to change it. Is this easy to do myself? I have a KLE500 with a side stand - no centre stand. Obviously i need to unscrew the nut and take the left fork away from the wheel but will i need a jack to take the weight off the wheel or will the right fork take the weight. I am also a bit unclaer as to how the left fork will pull away from the bike as it is obviously attached further up towards the handle bars. Sorry to sound thick but this is my first bike. I don't want to start something i cant finish so any advice on this would be much appreciated. SueHow do you change a front brake disc on a motor bike?HELLO

WHEN YOU PICK UP DISK PICK UP NEW PADS AND ASK FOR NEW R CLIP TO FIT FRONT WHEEL SECURING NUT

IF YOU CAN BUILD UP BRICKS UNDER BIKE TO SUPPORT IT WITH FRONT WHEEL JUST OFF FLOOR

REMOVE THE SPEEDO DRIVE

REMOVE R SHAPED OR SPLIT PIN FROM THE NUT

YOU CAN NOW TAP THE BIG ROUND SHAFT THROUGH AND OUT THE OTHER SIDE

YOU SHOULD NOW BE ABLE TO REMOVE THE WHEEL COMPLETELY

LAY WHEEL DOWN ON SOME CARDBOARD TO STOP SCRATCHES

HOPE YOU HAVE HAND BOOK FOR BRAKE PADS AS THESE WILL NEED FORCING APART TO FIT NEW PADS

I'd just like to add that if you've been quoted 300 you need to find yourself a different garage. If you need a garage for anything (and you don't, really, for this one) call around as many as it takes to find one with a quote you can live with.

And I hate to say it, but a less scrupulous mechanic may assume that due to being a woman you can be fed bullshit and quoted a higher price. Easy way to combat it is to find out as much as you can about your bike and make it sound like you know what you're talking about.

Or get the biggest, ugliest male biker you can find to get quotes for you! :)How do you change a front brake disc on a motor bike?Changing the front brake disk is quite easy, undo the wheel, take the wheel off, take the old disc off, put the new disc on, put the wheel back on the bike, I would also suggest that as you are changing the disc that you put new brake pads on as well. You do not and I repeat DO NOT need to remove the forks in any way whatsoever.

Oh yeah, very good point by maddog, get the front wheel off the ground first.

ANDY, don't shout, i.e. your answers in capitals, it makes it really hard to read what you're trying to say. You do have good stuff to say as I have (with difficulty) read other answers you have posted, but please don't shout.

300 to change a brake disc, it's a f@@king KLE500 you have not a bl00dy Bugatti Veron. I'll do it for you for 20 + parts. How do you change a front brake disc on a motor bike? One of these will get both wheels off the ground:

Undo what ever axle retention there is (axle fork caps, pinch bolts, etc) and either remove/slide out axle, or remove axle caps, and wheel should come out. PAY ATTENTION to spacer placement (if any). Disc should just unbolt, new one bolt on. Depending on disc wear, a new (hence thicker) disc MIGHT require the brake pads to be opened up a bit (pushed back into the calipers).
